An over-40 origin story

Picture it: Massachusetts, 2019. Ben’s annual Valentine’s Day dinner party is approaching. This means we pick a country, nerd out over the cuisine, and then obsess about cooking it in the most authentic way possible. But this year, something is different - Joey decides to host and themes it: Thailand. This unlocks a new dinner party location and unleashes our creativity (Joey has a giant piano—and he knows how to use it). And so, out of sugar and spice and everything nice, Three Second Chances is born… then it was Jacyn’s turn to host a dinner party!

  • Ben - the Dinner Party Daddy

Ben is like if Ina Garten and Andy Cohen had a love child. When he’s not running a kickass production company or hosting his groundbreaking industry podcast, he’s either cooking, cocktailing, or throwing an epic feast for friends - and looking fierce AF while doing it. Cheers, dahlings.

    Fun Facts
He can say the alphabet backwards.

He can touch/pick his nose with his tongue.

    His glasses are fake.

  • Jacyn - the Cosmic Crooner

If the Universe was a person, it’d be Jacyn: a bubbly, rockstar Renaissance woman. Once signed with Universal/Motown, she’s collabed with legends like Wyclef and One Republic. Café management taught her latté art but gave her a taste for only the best coffee (which she takes dark and fresh - like her).

    Fun Facts
She’s obsessed with swiffering her floors.

She practices singing in her car so no one will hear.

She’s happiest when she can get to bed before 9:45 p.m.

  • Joey - the Versatile Virtuoso

An IT director, SFX lighting designer, and pianist walk into a bar - it’s Joey. When HGTV featured his lighting installations, Joey’s side hustle found a spotlight (see what we did?). But with music, he laid low, accompanying or arranging because he doubted it’d amount to anything. Now he’s really living three lives!

    Fun Facts
He’s one strike from a perfect 300 bowling game.

Home improvement projects are his Kryptonite.

When in a new city, he immediately visits a grocery store to scout regional potato chip flavors.

Are they cray cray for doing this? Nah.

“Music was my first love, and, after a 15-year hiatus, I realized my life wasn’t in balance without it. My hope is to inspire other 40-somethings to stop waiting for the right time to do what they love. The time is now!”

— Ben

”I made music before but never on my own terms. Today, I sing because it brings me immense joy and connects me to others, myself, and the Universe. And these two talked me into it…”

— Jacyn

”I’ve played piano since I was four, but I never enjoyed performing solo for large crowds. A group is more fun, and this group has made me see music in an entirely different way. It’s NEVER too late to take a chance.”

— Joey
